VDT Sites Cookie Policy
Last Updated: August 6, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how vdtsites.com (the “Site”) uses cookies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, keep them secure, and remember basic preferences.
2. How We Use Cookies
We keep this short: browsing this Site sets one cookie that is not strictly essential, and it is there to measure our own advertising. Everything else is security or sign-in.
Advertising measurement: we advertise on Google. When you visit, the Google Ads tag sets a first-party cookie called _gcl_au so that, if you later contact us, Google can tell us that one of our ads led to it. It measures our ads. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not sell or share it, and we do not run retargeting or show you ads elsewhere based on your visit.
Essential cookies: our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may set a cookie when its protection features are triggered, for example if it needs to tell a person apart from an automated bot. These exist for security, cannot be switched off, and are not set on every visit.
Measurement: we count visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to any other site. We deliberately did not add Google Analytics back when we started advertising, so there is still no analytics cookie on this Site.
We use no social-media trackers, no advertising pixels from any other network, and nothing that follows you across other websites.
3. Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Type | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Advertising | Ad conversion measurement: lets us see that an ad we paid for led to someone contacting us. Set on every visit and expires after 90 days. Related _gcl_* cookies may be set if you arrive by clicking one of our Google ads. | |
| __cf_bm | Essential | Cloudflare | Bot management: distinguishes humans from automated traffic to protect the Site. |
| cf_clearance | Essential | Cloudflare | Stores the result of a security challenge so you are not repeatedly re-checked. |
| vdt_admin | Essential | VDT Sites | Signed sign-in session for the private admin area, set only if a VDT Sites administrator logs in. Never set by browsing the public Site. |
Cloudflare sets its cookies only when its security features are triggered, so you may receive none of them on a normal visit. They contain no advertising or personal-profiling data.
That is the complete list. There is still no analytics cookie, because our analytics does not use one.
4. Your Choice
There is no cookie banner on this Site. We would rather explain ourselves here than make you click a box. The one non-essential cookie we set, _gcl_au, exists so we can tell whether our own advertising works, and blocking it costs you nothing at all: the Site looks and behaves exactly the same, and you can still reach us by any method on the contact page.
If you would rather not be counted, you can block it in your browser settings (see section 6), use an ad or tracker blocker, or opt out of Google’s ad personalisation at My Ad Center. We do not treat blocked visitors any differently, because we cannot tell.
If we ever add anything that tracks you across other websites, or that builds a profile of you, this page will say so before it happens.
5. Third-Party Content
The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, and a small number of code libraries from public content-delivery networks, to render its typography and animation. This causes your browser to request files from those servers, which can expose your IP address to them. None of them set cookies for this purpose.
Traffic measurement is provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and collects no information that identifies you personally.
The Site loads the Google Ads tag, described in section 2, which sets the _gcl_au cookie and reports conversions to Google. Beyond that we embed no advertising networks, no social-media widgets, and no third-party trackers.
6. Managing and Disabling Cookies
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings:
Blocking the essential Cloudflare cookies may affect how the Site loads or behaves, since they exist for security and performance. Nothing else on the public Site depends on cookies. Blocking _gcl_au changes nothing about how the Site works for you; it only means we lose the ability to tell that an ad brought you here.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our use of cookies. The “Last Updated” date above reflects the most recent change.
